Girl superheroes (Discussion)

lucyinthesky saidSun, 12 Oct 2008 23:37:26 -0000 ( Link )

I’ve noticed that comics and superheroes are more popular amongst guys. I think a lot more girls would like comic books if there were female superheroes. They would probably relate to the character more, the same way guys look up to male superheroes.

The only mainstream superhero I know is Wonder Woman. Other than that, I’m drawing a blank. Does anyone know any super-cool girl superheroes?

We can’t forget about Catwoman or Bat Girl!

Although, I wasn’t happy with Halle Barry or Alicia Silverstone’s performances in the Blockbuster movies.

Nonetheless, their story-characters always supported their Front man. Ever hear that saying, “Behind every good man, is a great woman.”

Alicia Silverstone was Bat Girl? Where was I?

I really liked Michelle Pfieffer as Catwoman, that was amazingly impressive. The Halle Berry movie sucked, though.

That’s quite an impressive list! Although I think Wonder Woman is in there twice…

I think the big difference between girl and guy superheroes is that guys are solo heroes as often as not, but you’ll find the girls mostly in teams. I’m not sure why that is…

For example, in the Marvel comics, other than Elektra (and I think Echo for a while but I’m not sure), there aren’t too many solo girl heroes. But in any major team- the Avengers, Fantastic 4, X-Men, you’ll find a few girls and fairly often they’ll have major roles. Storm, Rogue, and Shadowcat are probably some of the best X-mutants (not to mention Jean Gray).

Great list! I suppose Charlie’s Angels are pretty popular…I’d still like to see a female superhero on the same calibre as Batman or Superman, but I guess that would never happen – just because there’s so much history and so many different stories with those superheroes. They’re the classics.

Hey, what about looking on www.marvel.com? Look at the top of the screen – there’s a category called ‘Charecters’, from there go to ‘chareacter bios’. Then you’ll be leed to another part of the HUGE homepage. “scroll” down the page… Then you’ll find like 24 categories, and one of them is called ‘Women’. Click there, and then you’ll have a charecter bios with ONLY FEMALES, and theres like 600 female heroes. Of course, this is only the Marvel Universe heroes, but it’s a bunch of women!!!
